WELCOME TO JENN'S LIFE

I obviously don't visit family and friends as much as I should, so basically this blog, is for them. To show just how much my boys have grown and what we have been up to.

A STRESSED OUT MOMMA!!

Today has been a stressful day for me....Cody has been waiting for me to sign him up for karate for over 2 months now....today I went to sign him up since it's open sign ups and I find out that there is a waiting list so he won't be able to get in for another 3 or so months. It's through the YMCA since that is the only karate that I can afford right now. Well, I had to tell Cody and of course, he broke down in hysterics......screaming, saying "I hate everyone", kicking, running, etc. When he gets like that, it's really hard to talk him down, but I did eventually....actually, I talked him down really quickly (thank goodness)....we signed up for kids sports instead. Starts tomorrow so we'll see how that goes...LOL...the rain outside just has to stop! Cody and Derek can't go outside and it's getting them more "frustrated" from being cooped inside. They need their outside time....Tomorrow doesn't look much better...YIKES! It's 10:40 pm and Cody just won't "settle down" and fall asleep....true, we rented YES MAN with Jim Carey and it ended a little after 9:30, but he layed down for almost the whole movie! He just doesn't like to "unwind".....heck, I NEED him to unwind. He's flopping around in the middle of the living room floor (where he has been sleeping for the past month since we are remodeling the bathroom and the "old bathroom stuff" is in his room.)...UGH!!!! TV is not on....the room is dark. I am not talking, just typing. And instead of calmly resting, he is flopping around like a fish out of water. Doc. says to ignore him and he'll eventually go out.......just when is "eventually", I wonder???

CODY'S BIKE

Just wanted to share with everyone a picture of my "big boy" riding his two-wheeler. This picture is from last year (when he was 6), but I'm so proud of his accomplisment! This is Cody---the little guy petrified of ANY kind of boo-boo!! Luckily for him (and us too), he took to the bike right away with absolutely NO falling! Wow---I wish I could have learned that way....We're in the process of buying him a new 18" bike soon...He just put the "trading card" in the spokes the other day (thanks for showing me that, Dad)...and he zips around like he's a racer!!! He just loves riding his bike!!! I am so proud of that little guy!!

OH NO!! WHERE IS CODY'S OTHER HALF???

CODY WONDERED IF IT REALLY WORKED....LONG AGO, CODY...LONG AGO

OUR VIRGINIA VACATION

We went to Virginia the last week of May of this year. I drove down with both boys in the back seat (aaagghhh....)....It was the first time that I drove anywhere of such a long distance by myself (as the only driver, that is)...What should have been about a 9 hour drive turned into a 15 hour drive with several "car sick" stops...Yes, Cody gets car sick still. But we eventually made it there! What a relief that was. We left at 3:30 in the morning from Syracuse and got in Williamsburg around 7ish at night. Just in time for din-din....The room was fine (and there was a pool outside for Codester). Derek doesn't usually swim in public pools (OCD issues)...The week before we LEFT syracuse, it was said to rain and thunder the whole week we were there BUT we made it through. And it actually only rained a few nights and all day the last day (coming home day). It happened to be a pretty nice weathered week for us. Took the boys to Busch Gardens (3 days) and Water Country USA. Then we went to Virginia beach for a day and one day I took Cody to Jamestown Settlement (but the smells of the "older times" bothered him and we had to leave early).....It was that musty smell that got to him almost immediately. We called back home to Carl every night to tell him how we were doing. (He didn't really want to go to Virginia--but wanted to take a small vacation with his new Harley Ultra Classic). One day I also took the boys to GO KARTS PLUS (a go-cart and ride amusement park). We spent a few hours there. Cody got to ride his own go cart which meant a lot to him. And Derek and I raced eachother on the "adult" go carts (and of course, he won)....It was a lot of fun there...One of my best visits was th HANNA ANDERSSON OUTLET there in Williamsburg. I just so happend to go when they were having a "mega sale" and I got Cody some clothes for next year school for under $10 a piece (usually over $40 a piece so it was a steal)!! For those of you who don't know Hanna Andersson clothes, it is the ONLY place where I can buy my little guy pants/shorts (the only ones that "feel right").....and since there is not any store around us, I end up buying them from Ebay or their online store....this was a great deal for me and I was really excited!! We swam in the outside pool almost every day (well at least Cody did)....Let's just say that the 8 days there flew by and too soon, we were back in Syracuse (of course, the GPS screwed up on the way back and I accidentally went through Washington DC and Baltimore 3 times before realizing it)!!! Another 15 hour trip back too! But through it all, it was worth it! Cody had fun and I believe Derek did too (even though he won't tell me that)...Vacation well taken.

Awww...Cody's clothes match the mystical creature that he is riding in.....

This picture actually means a lot to me. You see, Cody doesn't like to be "messy" in any way. He doesn't like the feel of sand on his skin either. So for him to sit IN the sand and build a sand castle with his brother for over an hour, it meant a lot. And then to get up from the sand looking like this--PRICELESS!! Of course, he had to wash himself off immediately in the ocean...LOL...

Cody the Corn Crusher....WAY TO GO CODY!!!

Cody's cute little mischievious smile!!

Cody's first flying lesson.....

This picture is Derek and my favorite. We call it
"Run, FOREST, Run!".....

Cody, you are so brave....

Cody's first trip to Krispy Kreme (PA)...Let's just say, he LOVED IT!!

"Watch out! HERE I COME!!"

This is a picture that Derek and I call
"SCAREDY PANTS"

Derek, your face won't crack if you smile, ya
know.

"Lead the way, Codester"!!!

Cody ON TOP OF THE WORLD!!

IDENTICAL TWINS...NOW ISN'T THAT SCARY!!!

TWO COOL DUDES!!

My Kids

Welcome. My name is Jennifer. I am 35 years old (but is that relevant??). I am divorced but in a relationship (8 years). I have two children. Both boys. The oldest is 15 years old and the youngest is 7 years old. My life isn't always easy with my kids, but I wouldn't trade them for the world! My oldest has been diagnosed with ADHD, Tourette's Syndrome, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and Asperger's Disorder (Autism Spectrum Disorder). My youngest has been diagnosed with ADHD, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Sensory Processing Dysfunction, and Autism (moderate-high functioning). The days might not be quiet in my house, but they are surely full of surprises!!
My oldest, Derek, is more low-key. He's quiet USUALLY. His tics (running up and down the hall, pinching, arm flapping, and screeching) is what bothers him the most. He is on medication, but has been weaned off a lot of them since he feels that they are not helping in any way. As any teenager, he spends most of his time in his room. He gets easily frustrated from ANYTHING. He would sleep in until 1 p.m. every day if he could. He is at the age where he does not like to do ANYTHING with the family (and that hurts me). He hates germs and likes to be by himself more than with others. He gets good grades (80's and 90's) in his high school. He is mainstreamed with no special education needed. He has lots of "friends", but doesn't "hang out" with any of them (although last year he hung out with 2 or 3).
My youngest, Cody, is high maintanence. He is NEVER quiet. He has problems keeping still and quiet and doesn't really know how to "wait his turn" to talk. When he has something to say, he says it no matter who else is talking. Cody is always running around, jumping on something, or spinning on his spinners (exercise pilate spinners)...He has been chewing on everything lately! Toys, blankets, pencils, paper, etc. He will be starting a new summer program for kids with special needs. He will be attending Kasson Road school (upon our requests) this fall. He has a lot of "issues" at school. He has an IEP, as well as an extra behavior plan. Cody screams a blood curtling scream when he is frustrated (which in return frustrates anyone else around)....He is also a "runner"...he runs away when he is frustrated too. He's above average in math and reading. His report card shows a lot of promise (3's and 4's) but where the "social interaction" comes in, he gets 1's and 2's (mostly 1's)...He doesn't like to sleep. He stays awake until 11 pm most nights (although he goes to bed around 8ish every night)....He doesn't really get up, he just lies there and sings.....and sings....and sings some more. Cody has the hardest time with getting dressed. At the moment (and the past 7 or so months), he has only been able to wear Hanna Andersson pants and shorts(only one style) and Hanna Andersson shirts (a few others too). No socks. He can't "deal" with the feel. He is very sensitive to smells (throws up on strong smells).
Both kids see a psychiatrist (known as the best one in New York State) and have for the last 11 years (Derek) and all of Cody's life. Cody also sees a psychologist to work with his frustration issues.
I opened this blog thinking that maybe others wanted to voice their problems, or questions, or advice. Feel free to comment on anything or ask anything.....I also opened this blog to keep in touch with the friends and family that I seem not to see very much at all anymore (I am really sorry)....thanks and have a great day!!
